The allotment started out as a real blank canvas well a muddy weed covered mess really. Here's the earliest picture I've got taken back in December 2007. We had already dismatled the old shed and put up a new one along with a clear area filled with gravel.
From the start we wanted to minimise the amount of digging in later years so we decided to use raised beds. We got all the wood from the Bristol Recycled Wood Project and treated it with Procol organic wood preservative. We added on a small greenhouse and bought some nice wooded barrels off eBay. As the plot was very muddy we covered the paths with wood chippings which the council kindly supplies free of charge to the allotment. It was a bit of work carting it all up in the wheelbarrow though.
Finally for the first part of the allotment we added a pond area which some have nicknamed Tellytubby land. I can't imagine why. We've recently added the other half of the allotment and will be updating on the progress in the blog. Why not click on our web album to see the picturs in more detail.
